Captain Toad

After some of the bargains that have been mentioned on this site over the past few days, and when you can pick up relatively new releases (such as Ratchet and Clank (PS4) for less than £20), it’s hard to recommend Nintendo’s Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker when it represents a “bargain” at £25. But with the game being such a niche title that has a limited print run, it’s somewhat understandable as to why it’s held its price for so long – even if Nintendo have deliberately ensured to keep print runs low so as to maintain their brand equity.

If you’re a Wii U owner, then I’d say that Captain Toad is a somewhat unknown gem that’s worth picking up, with Arthur Gies (from Polygon) also liking the game when he scored it 8.5/10, with him stating that “Nintendo’s exercise in digging has found something pretty special — an action puzzle game that succeeds on charm and smarts, rather than reflexes and spectacle“.
