Where does it come from?

Markus, let’s start from the beginning… Tell me a little bit about yourself, your journey as a solo developer, what have you done in the past, and what has brought you to where you are today?

Alright, so I actually have a background in film-making. I’m a cinematographer, and I also do a lot of post-production, editing, and colour grading work, mostly in commercials. A few years ago, I started making videogames, and got interested in pursuing that.
Why?
Well, I’ve always been interested in doing them. I made these small games when I was a teenager, like RPG Maker and Flash games, those sort of things. That was basically my generation, so to speak. A couple of years ago when I had my first kid, I suddenly found myself with some time on my hands, where my baby would be sleeping on my tummy, and I would start coding on the laptop next to me. And I started making these small games, mostly 2D pixel art stuff, and at some point, I felt like I wanted to make something more cinematic and bring my film-maker eye to the medium. And that’s when I started doing 3D stuff… Yeah, that was basically the start of it.
