What happens if you try to make a Metroidvania (like Hollow Knight) in the world of Inside? That's a question that Andreas Dimogiannis (Founder, Cymban) has been wrestling with for the last 10 years, whilst also taking inspiration from games like Hyper Light Drifter and Environmental Station Alpha. As part of this 10 year development cycle, Andreas Dimogiannis has ensured to implement a non-linear progression system that doesn't include any text or speech - so as to encourage players to have their own interpretation of on-screen events. With Selini being a 10 year project, I spoke to Andreas Dimogiannis about his development challenges, as well as what inspired him to continue making the game during this time.
